The Trump Administration took credit for recent announcements by Stellantis and Whirlpool regarding new investments to onshore production and manufacturing in the U.S., saying they demonstrate how “President Trump continues to drive an American manufacturing boom.” The White House highlighted Stellantis’ plans to expand U.S. production by 50% across plants in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, and Whirlpool’s separate commitment to invest $300 million in two appliance manufacturing facilities in Ohio. The developments come as GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp said that the GE Aerospace Foundation will launch a $30 million, five-year workforce skills training program aimed at revitalizing U.S. manufacturing. The funding will help community colleges and other local programs around the country “purchase new equipment, hire new instruction staff and expand curricula, and alleviate financial burdens for students.”
