The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced it has resumed full enforcement following the government shutdown and is now working through a backlog of safety and health complaints that could not be processed during the lapse in appropriations. The agency said individuals do not need to resubmit their complaints. The agency also extended the 15-day period employers have to contest citations issued or received between October 1 and November 12, with the new deadline set for December 4, 2025. OSHA emphasized that shutdown days do not count as “working days” for contest timelines and encouraged employers to consult its resources for inspection procedures and compliance assistance.
