In an open letter to Congress yesterday, the heads of the nation’s 10 largest airlines called on lawmakers to fund a major modernization of America’s antiquated air traffic control system warning that “the current system is failing Americans.” The CEOs explained that “it’s more expensive to continue supporting the technology and equipment from the 1980s than it is to buy a new ATC system,” and that the antiquated air traffic control system is forcing their companies “to fly fewer flights.”
