The Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that U.S. import prices unexpectedly increased 0.3% overall in August and that non-fuel import prices rose 0.4%–the largest increase since April 2025. These increases offset lower food and fuel import prices. Prices for imported foods, feeds, and beverages declined 2.1% in August, while fuel imports decreased 0.8% in August, led by natural gas prices, which dropped 13.2%.
