To mark Labor Day, the White House published a document entitled, “President Trump is Delivering for American Workers.” The document says that “President Trump is prioritizing the next generation of American Workers through workforce development and the trades.”
Specifically, the document cites: (1) President Trump’s April 23, 2025 Executive Order “Preparing Americans for High-Paying Skilled Trade Jobs of the Future” and asserts that the Trump Labor Department (DOL) registered 1,736 new apprenticeship programs nationally since January; (2) DOL’s June announcement of $84 million in grants to increase the capacity of Registered Apprenticeship programs; (3) DOL’s July announcement of $5 million in grants to attract and retain more women in Registered Apprenticeship programs; and (4) DOL’s August announcement of $30 million in funding for the Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund grant program.
The document also highlights the “No Tax on Overtime” provisions in the “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act,” which the White House says are expected to save overtime workers up to $1,600 per year. The White House piece also characterizes President Trump’s August 7, 2025 EO allowing 401(k) investors to access alternative assets as a pro-worker initiative.
