The White House Council on Environmental Quality’s (CEQ) Permitting Innovation Center launched a pilot called CE Works, a digital platform designed to streamline categorical exclusion determinations under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The pilot begins at the Bureau of Land Management’s Moab Field Office, with additional agency partnerships expected, and was developed in coordination with the General Services Administration to modernize federal permitting technology pursuant to President Trump’s April 15, 2025 memorandum. CEQ says the tool will help cut red tape and accelerate timelines for energy and infrastructure projects.
