Wage and Hour Division Rolls Out New Compliance Assistance Tools to Help Employers Understand Federal Labor Laws

The Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division released new compliance assistance tools aimed at helping employers better understand federal labor laws and avoid violations, including a dedicated compliance webpage, a video series on the Family and Medical Leave Act, and updated industry-specific toolkits. Wage and Hour Administrator Andrew Rogers said the resources are designed to encourage proactive compliance and provide clear, practical guidance for employers and workers, building on the department’s recent relaunch of its opinion letter program. The division also highlighted existing programs such as the Payroll Audit Independent Determination (PAID) program, which allows employers to self-report and resolve potential minimum wage, overtime, and certain FMLA violations, as part of a broader effort to emphasize education and voluntary compliance over enforcement alone.
