The Trump Justice Department sued the state of Minnesota, the cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, and Hennepin County alleging that their sanctuary immigration policies result in the release of dangerous criminals who would otherwise be subject to deportation. The lawsuit asks a federal court to invalidate the jurisdictions’ sanctuary policies, saying they impede federal immigration enforcement.
