Trump Federal Trade Commission to Maintain Biden-era Guidelines for Reviewing Proposed Corporate Mergers

The Trump Administration announced its decision to maintain the strict guidelines for reviewing proposed corporate mergers that were established by the Biden Administration’s Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2023. The decision to retain the guidelines was detailed in a memo by FTC Chair Andew Ferguson. In the memo, Ferguson stated that “stability is important for enforcement agencies and the business community,” and added that rewriting the guidelines would be “expensive and time-consuming.”
