The Trump Commerce Department released a request for comments on a trade investigation initiated under section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act to determine the effects on U.S. national security of imports of wood products, timber, and their derivative products. The Commerce Department also released a request for public comment on a trade investigation under section 232 to determine the effects on U.S. national security of imports of copper in all forms, including: (1) raw mined copper; (2) copper concentrates; (3) refined copper; (4) copper alloys; (5) scrap copper; and (6) derivative products. The comments are due on April 1, 2025 and can be submitted through the federal eRulemaking portal here using: (1) X-RIN 0694-XC117 for timber and lumber; and (2) X-RIN 0694-XC116 for copper.
