Trump Administration Asks Court to Postpone Lawsuit on PLA Rule Until After the Shutdown

The Trump Administration is asking federal judges to postpone civil cases due to the ongoing shutdown, including a pending lawsuit on the SWACCA-supported rulemaking mandating the use of project labor agreements (PLAs) on federal construction projects valued at $35 million or more. Specifically, Labor Department attorneys at the Justice Department requested that the lawsuit be paused for the duration of the shutdown, plus 14 days. This comes as federal courts remain open with funds separate from congressional appropriations, but that is only enough to pay staff until October 17, 2025.
