This morning, SWACCA sent a letter of support for the SWACCA-supported Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act (H.R. 4776) ahead of the House Rules Committee’s markup to prepare the bill for a floor vote later this week.
The letter highlighted the urgent need to streamline the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) permitting process for infrastructure projects, including new data centers and related water and energy infrastructure. It emphasized that the SPEED Act will clarify federal review requirements, codify recent Supreme Court guidance, set firm deadlines, and reduce costs and litigation risks. These reforms will provide certainty for businesses and job creators, helping members plan and execute major projects while supporting skilled workers with family-sustaining wages. The letter urged House leadership to advance H.R. 4776 to the Senate as quickly as possible.
