This morning, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a 6-3 ruling striking down President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan that would have provided Americans up to $20,000 in student loan debt relief. In its ruling, the high court said that President Biden did not have the authority to cancel such a large amount of consumer debt without authorization from Congress and agreed that the loan forgiveness program would cause harm to the states that brought the case.
