Senate Unanimously Passes DHS Funding Deal Without ICE and CBP

Overnight, the Senate unanimously approved a funding package for most of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The agreement funds the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Coast Guard, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and other DHS components, but excludes Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol as negotiations between Republicans and Democrats over reforms to immigration enforcement stalled.

The move follows mounting pressure this week from travel delays and came hours after President Trump announced that he would sign an executive order to restart pay for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers, who have gone more than a month without pay. The measure now heads to the House for consideration, where leadership is expected to take it up as soon as Friday or Saturday, with the goal of passing it before the end of the weekend ahead of the two-week Easter and Passover recess.
