Senate Republicans Remain Divided Over Path Forward on Extending Trump Tax Cuts

Following a meeting yesterday at the White House with President Trump, Senate Republicans remained divided over whether to adopt the “current policy baseline” —an accounting move that would make it appear that there is no cost to extending current tax rates enacted in 2017 that are set to expire at the end of the year. The disagreement comes as GOP House and Senate lawmakers are expressing rising concerns about differences regarding the path forward on a reconciliation package.
