Senate HELP Committee Advances NLRB Nominees to the Full Senate for a Vote

The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee voted 11-10 to advance the nomination of National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Chair Lauren McFerran for a second term and voted 18-3 to advance Joshua Ditelberg’s nomination to fill the NLRB’s open Republican seat. McFerran and Ditelberg’s nominations now head to the full Senate for consideration, where roadblocks to McFerran’s confirmation remain. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) opposed McFerran’s nomination during the Committee markup and Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) has indicated that he does not plan on voting for presidential nominees on the Senate floor that cannot garner a single Republican vote. Without him, Democrats would need every single senator in their caucus plus Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote if all Republicans are present.
