The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee announced a hearing next Wednesday, October 1, 2025, on the nominations of Scott Mayer and James Murphy for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and Rosario Palmieri to be Assistant Secretary of Labor for Policy. Mayer, who is the chief labor counsel at Boeing, was nominated in July to a five-year term to fill the seat of former Board member Lauren McFerran. Former NLRB attorney James Murphy was also nominated for a five-year term to fill the seat formerly held by John Ring. Their confirmation would restore a quorum at the NLRB, with Democratic appointee David Prouty currently serving as the sole member of the Board.
