Republicans Say They Want Another Reconciliation Bill This Fall

Today, Senate Finance Committee Chair Mike Crapo (R-ID) said he wants to pursue another reconciliation bill and is tentatively eyeing this fall for consideration of the bill. Crapo declined to detail what he wanted in a second reconciliation bill beyond referencing things that got left out of the recently concluded reconciliation package. House Budget Chair Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) separately talked to reporters about his vision for a second reconciliation bill, suggesting that Republicans should try to rework provisions flagged by the Senate parliamentarian so that they comply with Senate rules. The news comes as Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said he believes he has a commitment from the White House and Senate GOP leadership to pursue another repeal Medicaid expansion—a controversial proposal that failed to make it into last week’s reconciliation bill.
