In a new report, Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Ranking Member Bernie Sanders (I-VT) assets that artificial intelligence could result in 100 million people losing their jobs as it gives rise to “artificial labor” that could “replace” 40% of registered nurses, 47% of truck drivers, 64% of accountants, 65% of teaching assistants and 89% of fast food workers. In a separate Fox News editorial, Sanders frames the rise of “artificial intelligence and robotics” as a vehicle to concentrate wealth and power that will allow billionaires and “corporate America to wipe out tens of millions of decent-paying jobs, cut labor costs and boost profits.”
