President Trump Signs EO Establishing Office to Administer CHIPS and Science Act Funding

President Trump signed an executive order establishing an office within the Commerce Department called the United States Investment Accelerator to facilitate and speed up investments of more than $1 billion in the U.S. and administer federal funds from the SWACCA-supported CHIPS and Science Act.

This new office is intended to encourage companies to make large investments in the U.S., with an eye to reducing regulations, speeding up permitting, increasing access to national resources, and facilitating collaboration across national laboratories and state governments. The Investment Accelerator will also be responsible for administering the CHIPS Program Office, where President Trump expects it to negotiate “much better CHIPS Act deals than the previous Administration.”
