In an unprecedented move, President Donald Trump fired Democratic Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Commissioners Jocelyn Samuels and Charlotte Burrows, cutting their terms short before they were set to expire in 2026 and 2028, respectively. This action is seen as an effort to end the Democratic majority currently at the EEOC. Trump is reportedly planning to replace both commissioners with Republican appointees. In addition to these firings, Trump also dismissed EEOC General Counsel Karla Gilbride, whose term is slated to run until 2027.
