President Trump, as early as tomorrow, is expected to invoke the “Alien Enemies Act of 1798” in a stated effort to speed up deportations of undocumented immigrants. The controversial law allows the president to detain, relocate, or deport non-citizens from a country considered an enemy of the U.S. during wartime. Trump is expected to cite the law to order the swift detention and deportation of suspected members of the Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang with prison origins that the Trump Administration has designated a foreign terrorist organization.
