Today, President Trump’s tariffs ranging from 10% to 50% on almost every nation took effect after being delayed four times in four months. Moreover, today President Trump also announced that he will impose a 100% tariff on imported semiconductors or chips but also vowed to exempt all companies that build in the United States. This tariff announcement comes as President Trump is calling for Intel Corp. to fire its CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, after Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Cotton (R-AR) sent a letter yesterday to the chair of Intel’s board of directors saying that Tan “controls dozens of Chinese companies and has a stake in hundreds of Chinese advanced-manufacturing and chip firms.”
