Yesterday, New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy (D) announced she’ll withdraw from the state’s Democratic U.S. Senate primary, likely paving the way for Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ) to secure the nomination. In announcing her withdrawal, Murphy said, “it is clear to me that continuing in this race will involve waging a very divisive and negative campaign, which I am not willing to do.” If elected, Rep. Kim would become the first Korean-American senator in U.S. history.
