New Data from Commerce Department Finds Spending on Construction Projects Rose to $2.17 Trillion in October 2024

The most recent data from the U.S. Commerce Department shows that spending on construction projects rose 0.4% in October to $2.17 trillion, surpassing economists’ expectations that construction spending would rise 0.2% in October. Over the past year, construction spending was up 7.2%, driven in large part by the boom in construction of data center and manufacturing facilities, which is expected to continue into 2025.
