Micron to Invest $200 Billion to Build and Expand Chip Manufacturing Facilities

The Commerce Department announced that Micron Technology plans to invest $200 billion in semiconductor manufacturing and research and development to dramatically expand domestic chip production. The company—which will also receive up to $275 million in incremental funding from the SWACCA-supported CHIPS and Science Act—plans to build a second chip manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho, expand and modernize its fabrication facilities in Manassas, Virginia, and construct up to two additional fabrication facilities in New York.
