Mexican authorities are warning about the spread of a powerful new group of synthetic opioids called nitazenes which are thought to be up to 40 times more powerful than fentanyl. A Mexican public health agency said that nitazenes could be laced into drugs, with even trace amounts being deadly. Because of their potency, cracking down on nitazenes could be even harder for law enforcement than halting fentanyl.
