Meta and North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) announced a new partnership to support skilled trades workers as AI and data center construction drives growing workforce demand. Under the agreement, Meta’s America’s Workforce Academy will work with NABTU’s Registered Apprenticeship programs to connect workers with training, credentials and career pathways in the skilled trades. The partnership also builds on Meta’s Future Is For Everyone Fund, which will invest in workers and communities supporting its AI infrastructure buildout.
The agreement is notable given Meta’s previously announced $115 million Workforce Academy partnership with Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and CBRE, which provides cost-free training and guaranteed jobs for graduates. It also comes just days after NABTU signed an agreement with BlackRock and the AI Infrastructure Partnership focused on workforce planning for anticipated AI infrastructure project pipeline of BlackRock portfolio companies. The BlackRock agreement focuses on expanding registered apprenticeship utilization and training and using responsible contractors who commit to project labor agreements.
