A shutdown of the federal government looks increasingly likely ahead of tomorrow’s House vote on a “clean” continuing resolution (CR) to extend federal government through November 21, 2025 as Senate Democrats are warning that unless Republicans scrap their plans and negotiate over healthcare issues, they don’t see any option other than defeating the CR to send a “message” to President Trump. The remarks come as House Republican leaders are discussing passing the CR and then not coming back into session until after the September 30th shutdown deadline to “jam” the Senate and give it no alternative to avoid a shutdown other than passing the GOP crafted CR.
