According to a new poll from Gallup, the perceived importance of a college education among Americans has dropped to a new low, continuing a downward trend seen in the last 15 years. The poll found that 35% of U.S. adults rate a college education as “very important,” while around 40% say that it is “fairly important,” and 24% say that it is “not too important.” In 2019, when asked about the importance of college, 53% said it was very important. The figure was nearly 20 points lower than in 2013, when 70% said the same. In 2010, 75% of U.S. adults said that a college education was very important.
