FTC to Host Workshop on January 27 to Discuss Anticompetitive Effects of Noncompete Agreements

The Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) Joint Labor Task Force announced a workshop on January 27, 2026 from 1pm to 5pm, ET entitled, “Moving Forward: Protecting Workers from Anticompetitive Noncompete Agreements,” which will be available to the public in-person at the FTC’s headquarters in Washington, DC and virtually through livestream on the FTC website. The workshop will include statements from FTC Commissioners, victims of noncompete agreements, and leading experts on noncompete agreements. The FTC’s Labor Task Force was created by Chairman Andrew Ferguson to prioritize rooting out and prosecuting deceptive, unfair, and anticompetitive labor-market practices harming workers. A full agenda for the January 27th workshop will be made available here and those who wish to attend in-person must register here in advance. There is no stated requirement to register to attend virtually.
