Federal Judge Blocks DHS Restrictions on FEMA Grants

A federal judge in Rhode Island rebuked the Trump Administration for trying to “bully” states into linking disaster aid to immigration enforcement, ruling that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) violated a prior court order by reattaching unconstitutional requirements to Federal Emergency Management Agency grants. In his ruling, U.S. District Judge William Smith ordered DHS to stop enforcing the requirements and to remove all related language from state grant documents within a week.
