FAA Awards $1.776 Billion for Airport Infrastructure Projects

The Department of Transportation announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded $1.776 billion in Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) and Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding to support terminal improvements, taxiway projects, safety enhancements, runway rehabilitations, and other airport infrastructure upgrades across 46 states. SWACCA successfully lobbied to include $15 billion in funding for airport improvements in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which was signed into law by President Biden in 2021.

The largest announced awards include: (1) $88.8 million for Denver International Airport; (2) $74 million for Boise Air Terminal; (3) $62.4 million for Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport; (4) $62.2. million for William P. Hobby Airport; (5) $47.6 million for John F. Kennedy Airport; (6) $36 million for Orlando International Airport; and (7) $28.1 million for Oakland International Airport.
