DHS Says E-Verify Has Resumed Operations Amid Federal Government Shutdown

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) posted a notice that the E-Verify system has resumed operations. The notice also directs employers who participate in E-Verify to create a case by Tuesday, October 14, 2025, for each employee hired while the E-Verify system was not available. The site had been down since October 1, 2025, due to the ongoing shutdown. The notice provides instructions for employers on submitting a case and handling tentative non-confirmations (mismatches), as well as informing federal contractors that during E-Verify’s unavailability, those calendar days will not count toward any of the federal contractor deadlines.
