Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said at a Senate Appropriations hearing that the Trump Administration has been reworking agreement with semiconductor makers under the SWACCA-supported Biden-era CHIPS and Science Act to secure better terms aimed at generating additional domestic investment. Notably, Lutnick suggested that the Trump Administration may not follow through on some of the planned awards, saying that “the only deals that are not getting done are deals that should have never been done in the first place.”
