Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said that pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) should “end the complicated system of drug rebates before the government steps in to change it,” signaling that the Trump CMS may revive attempts to eliminate payments drugmakers send to PBMs after prescriptions are filled. Oz suggested that regulators and lawmakers could revamp the system “fairly expeditiously, because there’s a motivated group of people who want to do that.”
