This afternoon, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its estimates of the effects of the House-passed reconciliation bill, finding that the bill will add $2.4 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade and that it will result in 10.9 million additional people without health insurance by 2034. It is estimated that roughly 1.4 million of these 10.9 million people lack verified legal status in the U.S. GOP congressional leadership downplayed the CBO estimates saying that the CBO’s previous estimates have proven to be inaccurate.
