Amazon to Invest Additional $10 Billion to Develop Data Center Infrastructure in Ohio

Amazon Web Services and Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) announced that Amazon intends to invest an additional $10 billion on top of an existing $23 billion commitment to develop data center infrastructure in Ohio. The new funding will allow Amazon to expand its data centers outside of Central Ohio to new sites in communities across the state. The new data centers will contain computer servers, data storage drives, networking equipment, and other forms of technology infrastructure used to power cloud computing, including artificial intelligence. This comes as there is mounting concern that the construction of Intel’s chip manufacturing facilities in Ohio that received CHIPS Act funding may be in limbo after the removal of Intel’s CEO, who pushed to develop new fabrication facilities around the nation.
